Materials for the Arts transactions
Provide financial support to the City’s non-profit arts and cultural sector for operations, programs and activities. — Expand resources for arts programs and public schools by increasing the supply and use of donated materials.
Materials for the Arts, DCLA's donated-materials program for schools and nonprofits, was still rebounding from pandemic-era disruption in FY22: the agency's own reporting says FY23's transaction count "nears the pre-pandemic average of over 6,000" after a 218% jump from FY22. Growth continued past that pre-pandemic baseline into FY24 as the number of donors to the program roughly quadrupled and MFTA expanded partnerships with the City's film, TV, and theater production community.
